PRP were appointed by the contractor to provide comprehensive civil and structural engineering services for a series of extensions and modifications at an infant and junior school located in Leicestershire.
The scope of the project consisted of the following key design aspects:
- New one storey junior classroom specifically designed to be built over the existing swimming pool integrating seamlessly with the existing facilities
- Infant classroom extension to expand the space to accommodate the growing number of students and enhance the learning environment
- Two storage extensions to support the operational needs of the school
- Refurbishment of part of the existing school building to improve functionality and aesthetics
The services provided included:
- Temporary works design to ensure stability and safety of the site and structures during the construction phase
- Robust below ground drainage design to manage water flow and prevent flooding
- Foundation and superstructure design
- Access road condition survey to ensure they met the standards for construction traffic and future use
