PRP were responsible for undertaking the geo-environmental investigation which was complicated by the presence of a number of old garages on the site. To keep costs to a minimum PRP undertook permeability testing simultaneously with the geo-environmental investigations. A sensitive approach was required for the investigations and testing due to the presence of neighbouring residential properties surrounding the site, so careful consideration of the investigation techniques to be adopted was an important consideration.
Working within a constrained site, which was still being used on a daily basis by tenants, presented health and safety challenges.
Resolving issues associated with undertaking permeability testing was challenging since the depth to the underlying chalk was initially unknown.
