This project consisted of the construction of 96 residential units and a three storey care home for Accent Nene Housing Association with associated highways and drainage works. The highways were designed as shared surfaces to keep vehicle speeds to a minimum with tree pits and bollards used to create an environment where car speeds would be reduced; this was all designed to comply with Peterborough City Council adoptable standards and was approved under a Section 38 agreement.
The most significant challenge on this project involved getting the highway adopted since the highways department insisted that surface water run-off from the highways discharged into an adoptable sewer and as the nearest public sewers were relatively shallow this was a challenge to make the scheme work.
