Structural Case Study
Two storey Medical Centre facility, Thrapston, Northamptonshire
This project comprised of a load bearing masonry structure with incidental steelwork to support a precast concrete first floor and timber trussed rafter roof. The poor ground encountered on the site required a pile and ground beam foundation solution with a suspended precast concrete ground floor. To ensure that the new building would not impact on the overall floodplain volume the ground floor was raised up and a one metre undercroft void with inlets on perimeter & internal walls was created beneath the suspended ground floor to accommodate future flood waters.
