Highways Case Study
Road Widening & New Traffic Light Crossing, A416 Trunk Road, Chesham, Buckinghamshire
This scheme was required as part of the development of a new Medical centre facility. To accommodate increased traffic flows whilst maintaining the safety of pedestrians and road users alike a new right-hand turn lane into the site was required, plus an existing Zebra crossing adjacent the site was upgraded to a traffic light controlled (Puffin) crossing. The existing road was in a poor state of repair requiring it to be fully re-laid for the whole of the site frontage plus the approaches to the new traffic light crossing. Complications on the site included the relocation of high voltage cabling and drainage culvert plus phasing the works to maintain at least one lane of traffic flow at all times.
